FVTC steps up to help Simsbury Free BikeFVTC is a proud sponsor of Simsbury Free Bike, the first community bike share program in the Farmington Valley. The program, launched in 2011, recently announced an expansion of services for the 2013 season. Simsbury Free Bike began its community bike share program in 2011. It was the first community bike share program in the Farmington Valley with one distribution center and 6 bikes located in downtown Simsbury. In 2012, bikes were available at 7 distribution centers in Farmington, Avon and Simsbury and, beginning in May bikes will be available at even more locations. Beginning May 1, 2013, bikes will be available to the general public at 12 locations in four towns at locations adjacent to the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail and the River Trail. Visit several locations to enjoy different parts of the trail. 2013 Simsbury Free Bike Locations: AutoBon Automotive

“Simsbury Free Bike is all about bringing more people to our unique and beautiful trail system, which has been a focus of the FVTC for years,” said FVTC President Bruce Donald. “Biking has so many health, recreational and economic benefits. We applaud this expanding venture.” FVTC is a sponsor and several of our members have donated bicycles, tools and their valuable time.
